What is Teki Support?

It started with a dream... actually, a nightmare

My mum got scammed. A classic, "overdue toll notice" email, that she wanted to proactively get on top of, so she put in her credit card details without a second thought, even past her gut-feeling of doubt. Surprise, surprise - the next thing she knows, mum's card is blocked and now she has to spend 2 and a half hours in line for a bank teller to reinstate her account and recoup half of the money lost.

Had she had someone to call - a second set of eyes to confirm that the toll was actually unpaid - mum would've never been in this situation. Alongside this, she's had trouble with joining Zoom meetings, organising her emails, connecting to her printer, and countless other technology  troubles.

Ok... so why Teki Support?

For my mum, she's had someone in her corner - me! For every device issue, wifi connection problem, new learning, I've been able to use my professional background in Information Technology and Diploma of Counselling to discover her preferred learning style, and understand when to give a straightforward quick fix, and when to provide some extra guidance and information.

And not only mum, but there have also been other relatives too that have needed similar support in their lives. But when I looked into the services that were out there, I found they offered common fixes that missed the mark:

  • Expensive - Services would start at $110+, and additional fees if you needed the service on the same day

  • Inflexible - Limited office hours, only specific devices can be assessed, no remote support available. I mean, if you had a problem with your printer, how are you meant to bring it to their office?

  • Informative rather than troubleshooting - Having volunteered for local council and volunteer groups myself, I can say that they do run great programs on scam awareness, device learning etc. But these are simply educational, rather than making specific fixes or providing solutions. Now, with the rapid use of A.I. and the infrequency of these sessions, some trainings may be outdated by the time they occur.

Let's support our loved ones with Teki Support
